Charitable Giving in Times of Urgent Need
In this scenario-based presentation, Foundation Source will offer, for all charitable giving vehicles, tips for (1) supporting current grantees, and (2) granting to new relief efforts related to COVID-19 and other times of urgent need (e.g., disaster relief).
Additionally, although every giving vehicle routinely gives to publicly supported charities, it’s a little-known fact among financial and legal advisors that only private foundations are capable of granting directly to individuals and families in need. Although grants to individuals (GTIs) remain a tiny portion of foundations’ overall granting, Foundation Source has seen a 500% increase in GTIs this year by its client foundations.
This discussion will help advisors have more informed conversations with their foundation clients about GTIs. Ultimately, we hope it helps those clients achieve greater impact with their philanthropic funds.
